Can Destiny be changed? Take Hope.

The world is messed up. There are a lot of things that are wrong with it at the moment. All sorts of things wrong with it. I live in a country which has one of the highest rates of suicide in the entire world, that’s not the best award for a country which is so small. Why is it that people decide that they’re ready to give up? Perhaps because in their mind there is no hope.

Life is pointless. We live, we die, that’s it. Or is it. Maybe that’s why these people wander around thinking that everything is hopeless. How can we bring hope to these people? Maybe by showing them that it’s not wrong to be without hope, but maybe it’s wrong to let that hopelessness take control of everything you do.

Maybe the world is messed up because everyone is walking around without hope. If enough people are hopeless, then we all live under a grey cloud. I’m not saying that we should all be happy all the time, but that’s not what it means to have hope. Hope is the thing that keeps us going when everything seems to be arrayed against us. Hope is that we can still win the war even when we feel like this lone battle is going against us. Without hope we will lose every single time. If you start believing that you’re going to lose, then you’re letting that belief control your destiny.

Destiny is a funny thing, a two-edged sword if you will. With one side you slay the beasts of doubt and fear by fighting against what someone else may believe you were already destined to do, but when you get to the point where you were meant to be you’ve achieved the destiny that was planned. It’s a crazy thing to think about.

So how does this talk of life, hope, and destiny affect the state of the world. I suppose I’m trying to say that you don’t have to let your destiny be fixed until you get to it, and that can give you hope to understand that you don’t have to let the same patterns be repeated in your life. When you understand that you can take that hope out to the world and start telling people that they don’t have to let their “destiny” control them. The world is messed up, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.
